Janis Richardson
Chair
Richardson currently serves as Secretary on the LWV Texas Board. Janis is the founder and President of LWV South Central Texas, where her kitchen table serves as the League’s “power table”. She has decades of experience in community building and organizational development, having served as the founding Executive Director of Grassroots Grantmakers. Janis also held leadership positions at the Community Foundation of Greater Memphis and Memphis’ Center for Neighborhoods. Janis has a Master’s degree in Urban Anthropology from the University of Memphis.

Jessica Rivera Lucas
Member
Rivera Lucas serves as VP Advocacy for LWV Dallas, and is currently on the Nominating Committee for the 2026-28 Board. Jessica’s dedication to advocacy and inclusion is also demonstrated by her positions as Chair of Somos Tejas and as a commissioner on the City of Richardson Community Inclusion and Engagement Commission. Jessica has a BA in Special Education from Grand Canyon University. She is on staff with the Workers Defense Action Fund, a member-led organization that mobilizes Latine voters in Texas to build governing power and fight for worker and immigrant justice.

Denita Jones
Member
Jones serves as the DEI Director for the League of Women Voters of Dallas and as the Hays County and Tarrant County Liaison for LWV Texas. She brings extensive experience in civic engagement, equity-centered organizing, and leadership development, with a focus on expanding access to democracy for historically marginalized communities. Denita is committed to strengthening the League through inclusive, values-driven leadership. Denita holds a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration from Jackson State University. She is the founding Executive Director of Citizens’ Lab, which is committed to building equitable systems and sustainable pathways to participation.
